CHRISTMAS VIDE GRENIER 2025

This year we have a special section for clothes. Over the past few months we’ve received donations of quality clothes and we thank everyone for their generosity. We’ve been working on hampers containing such things as cup and saucer sets, sweets and jams and chutneys and much more. There will be the usual jigsaws and books for those winter evenings by the fire and on the day the traditional refreshments including homemade mince pies. Our Christmas sales have become an annual event when we look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new supporters.

The Photographer and the Charity

We are so fortunate to have talented people helping and supporting the work of Grande Daze Rescue. Nick Catling is one of those people and he has shared his skills on several occasions, notably, taking beautiful photographs at the agility demonstrations. At our 10 year birthday celebrations Nick will be taking the details and photographs of the companion animals as they arrive at our gate.

“After the help, support and knowledge that Anita and Peter provided us throughout Max’s life I felt extremely grateful. I wanted to give something back to these wonderful people!” Nick Catling

Nick and his wife, Tracey, have donated wonderful prizes for the competitions at our birthday celebrations.

Nick runs courses teaching topics such as street photography and instruction in camera settings, including composition and understanding lighting.

ARTIST AND BAKER

You might be thinking what a strange change of context within a website devoted to animals! The beautiful bouquet of flowers pictured right was gifted to Peter and myself but they’re not flowers – they’re cakes, yes, CAKES! A big THANK YOU -Yummy!

This amazing gift was baked and decorated by Tracey Catling as a show of gratitude to us for helping her and husband Nick with the care of Max and Noaks.

Each flower is an individual cake topped with butter icing skilfully crafted to resemble a flower. See below some of the special cakes Tracey has baked.

As well as being an accomplished baker Tracey is a talented artist and takes commissions for Pet Portraits. Check out her Facebook page and note her generosity to Grande Daze. A percentage of the commissions is donated to help the animals at the Centre

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Reaching the end of another busy few months with the animals, we are now able to update everyone on how the support and the money raised has helped the animals.

In recent months we have continued to take care of the animals needing rehabilitation and medical attention. 4 dogs and 2 more adult cats have been rescued. The vets bills incurred have been for surgery and treatment for malnutrition, neutering and treating injuries of the new rescues. Ongoing
costs for parasite prevention and updating inoculations of those animals still in rehabilitation are being managed. The everyday expenses of special dietary needs and general feeding requirements, plus grooming and hygiene items continue.

We are delighted to report that three dogs have recently arrived in their forever homes.

We’ll keep you posted in a few months time on how things are going. You have helped us to care for all the needy animals in the refuge. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support.

Anita and Peter Edwards.

RAIN AND SEEDS, PLANTS & BRIC-A-BRAC – 27TH APRIL – A WONDERFUL DAY

It rained and then it rained and RAINED at the Plant & Seed Swap on Saturday … but the people came and the people smiled rays of sunshine. The event was a wonderful success.

We would like to thank everyone who brought, swapped, bought and generally supported us. Our benevoles were treated with such kindness and consideration we were bowled over. Peter and I are most appreciative of the effort everyone made and we send our grateful thanks to you all, especially, to the Landlady of the Red Lion, Suzie Coultrip and her staff, to Beverley Jane Wood who organised the event and liaised with the Grande Daze Benevoles and also made cakes and to the other bakers, Chris Broadwell, Nicky Peruche and Susie Morgan Champion along with Alan and Nicky Minton who donated a tree for the raffle prize.

After the effects on the Centre of the pandemic and Mange Tu? closing its’ doors for good, Peter and I decided it was time to make changes to the hectic fundraising previously undertaken. The hours spent by us to load and unload the Purple Van and to leave it at a venue for several hours is no longer viable as it is needed for its’ intended purpose – grooming! Similarly, the large events we held in the past no longer achieve the results matching the effort. Our benevoles have aged or are experiencing long term illness and others did not wish to continue working in the shop. It was therefore decided that the fundraising would be focused at our shop at the Centre with just 2 benevoles as staff. Only by request and special circumstances will we go to outside venues – The Red Lion at Desertines is one such venue.

Thank you all for a wonderful day.

MANY, MANY WAYS ………..

A fantastic success

So Many, Many Ways to Say ………………………………..THANK YOU!

Our Christmas Sale on the 3rd was a fantastic success. We extend a big Thank You to all those people who bought items and were so generous in supporting us to enable us to care for the animals. We are going into the New Year with funds to help us through the winter.

A thank you goes out to those who donated useful items or beautiful objet d’art.

We are so grateful to all the benevoles who helped on the day and those who gave of their time in the months up to the sale.

So many, many ways and so many kind, generous people we wish to thank – but simple is best and sincerely expressed – THANK YOU!

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2024.
